Mature Games Making Their Way to Wii
October 6, 2008 Category: Wii Gaming No Comments »
One of the reasons many ‘hardcore’ gamers usually stick to their PS3 and 360 consoles was the lack of what would be considered mature games released for the Wii in its first few years. The Nintendo console has been blessed with many great games, such as Super Mario Galaxy, Super Paper Mario, and the plethora of Wii based games such as Wii Fit and Wii Sports. However, these games can only do so much to satisfy a hardcore gamer who enjoys FPSes, RPGs, and strategy games. The cutesy graphics are great and the stories for these games are entertaining, but the Wii was missing something.
About a year ago, the Wii started receiving serious gamer titles. Tomb Raider found its way onto the Nintendo platform, with unique methods of controlling Lara which made the game work exploring. Resident Evil 4 was also released for the Wii, which takes the series to a whole new level of control and combat in a zombie shooter. So what’s coming up that should have mature gamers excited? Call of Duty: World at War is being released this November and will be the first time the Call of Duty series has been featured on the Wii console. Instead of facing the European side of World War II against Germany and Italy, World at War focuses on the Pacific side of the battle, specifically, Imperial Japan. The game plans to make use of the Wii Zapper in order to give the feeling of real life combat. Hopefully the entrance of Call of Duty onto the Wii console will show game developers who produce action and FPS games that the Wii console isn’t just about offering great family entertainment, it can be about exploring the dark side of humanity in games as well. Now we just need to get Condemned onto the Wii platform.
Wii Games Coming Out In July
June 11, 2008 Category: Wii Gaming No Comments »
So a list of what’s coming in June isn’t enough for you? Don’t worry, you have a lot more coming out to hold your interest for July. Whatever your jones for Wii games is, fantasy, sports, or otherwise, there is a lot coming out that you don’t want to miss. July is shaping up to be a really popular month for sports games. So start saving up, or bookmark this list, just in case. Some of the games on this list might actually be coming out at different dates, so pay attention to retailers too. You never know; maybe a game or two might come out earlier!
Wonder World Amusement Park and Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo’s Dungeon are both coming out July 8th, this year. Wonder World Amusement Park is basically an interactive carnival game that allows up to four players, to “ride” interactive carnival rides, and play mini games. Looks to be mostly a fun family oriented type game. Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo’s Dungeon will be full of cute little fairy tale creatures, and pastel enemies that you can blast to kingdom come. There will also be a few virtual card games, as well as little mini-games included. The Japanese version is already out and going, but unless you can read Japanese, you’ll just have to wait for July 8th.
July 14th and 15th are two big days for fans of sports games on the Wii. Cabela’s Monster Bass is out on the 15th, and pretty self-explanatory. Battle huge fish for a chance at major trophies! Yamaha Supercross is out on the 14th, and is basically an exciting little motorbike racing game. The objective is to speed around, beat the competition, and jump off sweet ramps. More sports! Also out on the 15th, is NCAA Football 09 All-Play. Just another football game, and honestly, unless you’re a hardcore football video game enthusiast, you can pass this one up pretty easily. Rock Band Track Pack Volume 1 is coming out for the Wii on the 15th, but this is basically just MTV’s version of Guitar Hero. So, if you want a cheaper alternative with crappy graphics, then Rock Band is for you.
Out on July 22nd, are Order Up! and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. With Order Up!, you can relive the days of just how much it sucked working behind the grill of that crappy fast food restaurant in high school. If you ever wanted to experience your McJob all over again, in game form, try out Order Up! when it comes out in July. The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, if you haven’t seen any previews, is the game form of the movie with Brendan Fraser, Jet Li, Maria Bello. Pretty decent cast for a movie that’s shaping up to have as many sequels as Friday the 13th. Whether the game is going to be as lame as the movie looks, remains to be seen.

The Latest Wii Games On The Scene
June 4, 2008 Category: Wii Gaming No Comments »
As the first few days of June pass by, any good Wii gamer is of course, out there looking for the top picks of the month, and what’s come out so far. And any great Wii gamer, is definitely going to want to know what kind of game schedule the rest of the month will be seeing. So far, June is shaping up to be a pretty big month, as far as Wii releases go. I won’t spoil the surprise, but keep reading, you’ll see what in store, in order of release date.
Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures - This is more of a kid’s title, and it came out really recently, on June 3rd. Despite it’s obviously less than smutty content, the game has received a general rating of around seven or eight points as people begin commenting on it more and more. If you’re a big fan of the Lego adventure games, this might just be something you want to check out.
Kung Fu Panda- Has anyone even seen this movie yet? This is another one of those games that basically is built up around the hype of the latest kid’s movie. In the film, Jack Black does the voice of a fluffy, fat, and not so ambitious panda trying to become a master of martial arts. Sounds like an American metaphor of some kind, doesn’t it? The game came out on June 3rd also, and is definitely for the kids, but if you get a chance to try a demo, see what it plays like, if only for the sake of trying something new.
The Incredible Hulk - Bruce Banner cannot be stopped! The mean, green machine is back in Wii style, and ready to kick some ass. This one comes out on June 5th; so there really no saying what kind of rating it has yet. But when we finally get some feedback on what kind of ride it’s been, we’ll definitely let you know.
Guitar Hero: Aerosmith - This is the big one! But unfortunately, it’s not coming out in the first week of June; you’re going to have to wait until June 29th just like the rest of us. This new installment in the Guitar Hero series of games is going to start riots in retail stores worldwide. When you finally get a chance to try it out, come back here and tell us how awesome it was.

Why Drive to the Store for Your Games? Get Them Online.
June 1, 2008 Category: Wii Games No Comments »
There are many games for the Wii, including a lot of the older titles from the early Nintendo’s. It is even possible to play the GameCube games on the Wii. Some of Sega’s and NEC turbo grafix 16 games from the early 90’s are also available for the Wii via your wireless Wi-Fi connection.
If you were to go out and buy all these games you would pay something like $45 or more for each individual game not to mention the good games may already be sold out when you get there. So you drive to the next store… same thing, and what about all the gas you burned to do that? With the price of gas the way it is right now it just makes more sense to get your games online.
Instead of going out looking for Wii games, why not download or purchase all your Wii games from the comfort of your own home? May have to wait a couple days to get it but it sure beats the hell out of driving all over the place and burning that $4 a gallon gas.
Nintendo Wii Games Full Line Up
May 31, 2008 Category: Wii Games No Comments »
Through the days of GameCube, GameBoy, Entertainment System and the DS line, there was really little between the likes of Nintendo, Microsoft (Xbox) and Sony (PS) in video gaming. That was until the Wii came along, and then BANG! By now, few true -blue video gamers would dispute that Nintendo has clearly surged ahead.
Needless to say, the video game industry is highly lucrative and everybody wants a bite of the pie. To occupy pole position, the Nintendo Wii had to be top-notch as a lifestyle item. It is multimedia, personal computer, internet browser, communication device and most of all, the mother of all video game consoles, all-in-one.
Everything about Wii revolves around the remote controller and Nintendo Wii Games are no exception. Its motion sensing technology makes the gaming experience feels like the real thing be it tennis, bowling, baseball, boxing and so forth. So much for the ‘couch potato’ image of video gaming as the intrinsic specialty of Nintendo Wii Games is the players’ movement.
Nintendo Wii Games are inherently played without clutter or restraint through its wireless remote. It is the tennis racquet, steering wheel, gun or bowling ball depending on what game is on. Coupled with the Nunchuck secondary controller, it truly brings Nintendo Wii Games into a gaming dimension previously unknown. There is even an adaptor that fits over the remote for those who are more accustomed to the old-version controller.
Game consoles are generally tended to kids but Nintendo Wii Games can be family affairs, they have the range. There’s even a menu channel for setting up personal profiles called Mii so involvement and participation can be even and well-matched regardless of age, gender and other conditions. A wide variety of games are available spanning sports, action, fighting, puzzles, casino and others.
Classic and retro games are also widely available. For one thing, the Nintendo Wii is backward compatible to the games of GameCube and even Entertainment System series. 4 GameCube controller ports are actually provided although some of the old games can be played with the Wii remote. The media bay will also accept the old GameCube discs along with the newer Wii version.
The primary source of Nintendo Wii Games is the Wii games store. They are also available through the Wii Virtual Console. However, the pricing structure through these two avenues is rigid and can be steep in the long run especially for serial Wii gamers. That’s why an alternative source of Nintendo Wii Games with a commercial twist through online download is getting vastly popular. At a fraction of the cost of the conventional disc, why wouldn’t it be?

Nintendo Wii Games
May 31, 2008 Category: Wii Games No Comments »
The Nintendo Wii is a great games console. It is radically different from other game consoles available on the market. The games included with the Wii are excellent and introduce you to the Wii controller in a very appropriate manner. They all have the usual Nintendo feel and stamp of family fun. The Wii remote and the Nunchuck controller feel a little different at first, but they are very intuitive to use because using body movements to play games is far easier than just pressing keys.
Wii setup is pretty easy and enables you to start playing games fairly quickly. Playing games on the Wii is smooth and very absorbing. Even though Wii graphics do not have the best resolution, they are more than adequate for games. What is truly innovative is the design of the games controller, and the way Nintendo have integrated it into the manner in which you have to play the games. If you like to play games with friends and family, you will have to get a second controller to get into the spirit of things; you will not regret it.
The Wii wireless setup is also very easy. After connecting the Wii, you can immediately check sports, weather, and news over Nintendo’s free online service. The Wii uses a standard SD card for memory. You can get a Wii high capacity memory card for a fairly reasonable price.
The battery life in the Wii leaves something to be desired. The Wii drains AA batteries fairly quickly. The Wii remote sometimes looses it’s connection with the console when the batteries are low on power. The Wii wrist strap may not be very durable, but Nintendo are very prompt in dealing with any warranty claims you may have.
The quality of the materials and workmanship on the Wii is excellent. The Wii remote is sturdy enough to withstand being dropped by kids. The Nintendo Wii usually sells out very quickly, so get it as soon as it is available at your local store.
